A significant milestone was reached today with the pouring of the base for the first fish farming tank in section 2 at Viðlagafjara. While preparatory work for this phase began early in the year, this marks the symbolic start of visible construction in section 2
Each tank requires around 200 cubic meters of concrete and is impressive in both scale and complexity. The tanks measure 28 meters in diameter, over 13 meters in height, and will hold approximately 5,000 cubic meters of seawater.
As in section 1, a total of eight tanks will be constructed in section 2, using the same proven design that has already delivered strong results. Installation of the tanks is expected to begin in June and will continue into the autumn months.
Work has progressed well so far, and today’s pour marks an important step forward in the continued development of the facility.
